RADIO PROGRAMME

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4th. Miss IMerle 'Miller, mezzo-soprano, oi 'Christchurch, will be making her second appearance at IYA this evening. A new artist, Mr El. B. Waters, baritone, will be heard in several ballads. The IYA Orchestra is supplying many interesting items including the selection, “The Fortune and “The Children’s Suite.” Other instrumental items will be given by the Civic Novelty Trio, an excellent combination whose versatility and artistry are already well known to listeners. Mr Elton Black, and Miss Alice Bennetto wjTl once again be heard in a pot pound of humour and melody. An “Irish Night” is scheduled for 2YA. The Orchestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will play the overture “To an Irish Comedy,’’ the selection “Shamrock,’’ two songs “Danny Boy” and “I’m Irish,’’ and two novelty numbers “Irish Beauty” and “Paddy.” The Etude Quartet will supply the vocal portion of the programme, which will include many Irish melodies. Also on the programme will be Arthur and Still, mandolin duo. Mr J. A. Blackwood, piano-accordeon player, will’ entertain listeners with a “Medley, of Irish Airs. The Valencia Quartet will provide the vocal portion of 3YA’s programme. Concerted numbers will include such fiAe melodies as “When the Heart is Young,” “Old ’Mother Hubbard” and “The Redesdale Lassie.” Solos will be sung by Miss Lucy Fullwood, ’Miss Jean Johnson, Mr T. G. Rogers and Mr E. J. Johnson. Orchestral numbers will be provided by the Studio Octet and, a saxophone-piano due (Lyndon Christie and Miss Clive Winston) wTff'aTso contribute to the programme. The next of Mr E. Iveagh Lord’s senes of talks on “The Story of the Golden Coast ’ will be broadcast at 9 o’clock.
On 4YA miscellaneous programme, Mr J. J. Deverenx will delight listeners with some popular old ballads. Miss Lucy 0. James, one of the leading contraltos of Dunedin will also perform. The tenor will be Mi R. A. Mitchell. The instrumental portion of the programme will he in the hands of Bettitt’s popular trio playing well known light airs. There will be a ’cello sojo by 'Mr T. Law and xylophone solos by Mr W. J. Sinton.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER sth. This evening, IYA will relay the concert to be given in the Town Hall by the Auckland Municipal Band under the baton of t.lr George Buckley. As usual, Mr Buckley has arranged a very line programme, on which will appear .Miss Merle Miller, the Christchurch singer. Mr Roger Errington, the popular Auckland tenor, is also performing at this concert.
2YA will relay from the Wellington Town Hall, the final demonstration coneen of the 'Wellington Competitions Society’s 193 i Festival. The programme to be produced in 3YA Studio {and broadcast by 4YA) will be of the week-end type. Mr Claude Burrows, the possessor of a fine baritone voice, will be singing some popular ballads. Mr 'Jock Lockhart will be heard in humorous songs and stories. A new partv of vaudeville entertainers, “The Two Rascals -.nd their Rasealettes” will be making thelir radio debuts, providing two twenty-minute entertainments, ihe personnel of this party is : Miss Melva •Cater, Miss Alice Greenlees, Mr Bert Goodlaud and Mr Eddie Began, all well known entertainers. Mr Francis Bate’s Salon Orchestra will also contribute to the programme, playing popular selections.
