EARL JELLICOE’S APPEAL

(United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.;

(Received 1 2.5 p.m.) TORONTO, September 3.

Appealing for the same unity in peace time, which gave "the Empire success during the great war, Admiral Jellicoe to-day sounded a keynote at the opening of the Brrrrdi Empire Service League. Delegates were in attendance from eighteen parts of the British Empire The Conference was officially opened by Col. Hon. Murray MacLaren, Minister of Pensions, representing the Prime Minister.

In his address as Grand President, Admiral Jellicoe said the British Empire Service League and constituent organisations within the League, are non-political, but in every part of the Empire each organisation hasstood firmly against any interference by any Government with the rights of those who did their duty.- Unemployment was the greatest problem facing all members and organisations of the British Empire Stervice League. In our great organisation there are over sixty thousand branches comprising a very large number of men, throughout the Empire, who with their families can do much to promote Empire trade, by giving preference to Empire products

Admiral Jellicoe read a message from the Prince of Wales congratulating the League on its achievements, and expressing confidence that ex-service-men who. have settled in the Dominions, will stick it out as they did in the great war, despite the most difficult conditions.

Major J. S. Roper, President of the Canadian Legion was elected Chairman of the Conference. Earl Jellicoe was again elected Grand President of the 8.E.5.L., unanimously.
