HOSPITAL CONTROL: : •> (By Telegraph—Per Prets Asiodation) NAPIER, iSeptemtier '3. . Dr A. C. B. Biggs, Medical Superintendent of the Napier Hospital, .has produced a scheme qi hospital control. He proposes increased- activities in the district ’ nursing scheme/ livhich are estimated to save £6OOO in'the'fNapier district. Under that scheme patients with small or no claim to hospital attention would be treated at home by a nurse at 2s 6d a visit, each nursebeing responsible for ten patients. This would also mean' increased employment for nurses. He has also suggested that a Board of experts control*;' the hospital system, instead of local committees, the members of which knew little |about hospital problems. To avoid overlapping, he would do away with the present districts," replacing them by fifteen larger areaß, thus cutting out expense. He. also objects to political control of hospitals, both local and general. : K : . , : MANAWATU OPPOSITION* ’ NEW PLYMOUTH, September 3. Strong opposition to • the proposed new method of the control of broadcasting was expressed by the North .Taranaki Radio Society to-night. It was decided that as'soon as a copy of the Bill was received, a meeting of listeners be called. The general opinion was that a change in control would not be .in the interests of listeners. A referendum of listeners- was suggested. AN INVESTITURE. ‘ WELLINGTON, , September 3. ■ The Governor-General held an investiture at Government House, Wellington, at 8.50 last evening, at which His Excellency presented to Mr R-. A. Ander son, of Invercargill, and'Mr G. A, Troup (formerly Mayor of Wellington!/ th insignia of Companions of the' Order of ♦St. Michael and St. .George.. His Excellency also presented to Mr William Waddtlj lately Supervisor of -the State Advances Department, Wellington, th,- 1 insignia of a Commander of the. Civ-1 1 Division of the Order of 'the British Empire. The investiture - was followed by a reception at which a large number of guests were received by Their Excellencies. ' i
