AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS., (Australian Press Association.) •SYDNEY, September 3. The Australain Coif . Championship titles were decided to-day jn excellent weather. The Victorian boy, H. Williams, won the amateur championship, beating G, Thompson (N.S.W.) 3 and 2. The professional championship was won by J. Spence, who defeated W. Bolger 2 up and I, The play qf the amateurs excited the most interest. Thompson, who is a deliberate type of player, made the game slow. Williams, on the other band, is breezy, and stylish, and is partial to long hitting, but his approaching was not so accurate as usual. Thompson was below form, and the game was not up to championship standard, possibly owing to the fortnight’s continuous strain of these competitions. The display of the professionals was much more consistent. Spence, although beginning shakily, finished strongly.
