QUARRY ACCIDENT

COUNTY FOREMAN INJURED. (By Telegraph —Per Press' A mociation) STRATFORD, September 4. R. E. Pleats, County foreman, was seriously injured while working in a quarry on the Manaia Road yesterday. His left loot was crushed, the pelvis was fractured, and he sustained internal injuries. An operation was performed, but his condition is still ser-„ ious. Pleats was preparing to put in ft: blasting shot, when the sandstone fade of the quarry came down overwhelming him. Some of the boulders were, 2ft 6in. in diameter, and the workmen had much difficulty in extricating him.
