Advice has been received from which it is hoped ample provision will »e made this year for several scenic tracks in South Westland to assist in opening up beauty spots foT easy access. /• The works in sight include, Copeland Jlut, £80; road to Lake Matheson, £45; Alec’s Knob track (additional) £350• Cone rock, .Fox Glacier, £150; 'Oailery Gorge suspension bridge, £3OO.

. Gallery Gorge bridge is now in hand and will replace the former bridge now condemned.

The track to Aleo’s Knob at the \faihp, will give'-access to the summit whence a wonderful coast panorama will' be visible, as well as a new view of the mountain fastnesses, with Franz Joeef Glacier as the central feature.

J I>ake Matheson- is accessible now by a, partially completed track, and any improvements will be appreciated by visitors. It is a rare beauty spot and will repay a morning spent in its pleasant setting.
