The occupants were not injured. MEAT CONTRACT. LONDON, September 2. Four firms, all supplying Australian and New Zealand frozen beef, obtained the War Office .half-yearly contract of 6000 tons. Considerable discussion has taken place at Manchester over the ■ necessity for increased shipments of butter, cheese and honey from the Antipodes. Distributors emphasise the wastefulness .of trans-shipment from London at a cost of forty thousand sterling annually. They point out that .if tlvsc were direct regular deliveries, the Manchester area could easily take 400 tons of butter, and 2000 cheese weekly. Canada is the only Dominion at present seizing the opportunity.
