FOUR JOCKEYS INJURED

FIVE HORSES CO,ME DOWN. I SENSATIONAL RACING SMASH. SYDNEY, September 1. At the Gosford races to-day there was a sensational smash, five horses corning down. Jockey Knox had his collar-bone broken. Jockeys Leahy, who also had a broken collar-bone, and iM’Leod were injured internally. It is believed that they were trampled upon, M’Leod is suffering from concussion. Jockey White was stunned, but soon recovered. Jockey Nowland was unhurt. Two of the horses concerned. Miss Fort and Lady Backwood, were seriously in iur-ed. The latter had to be destroyed. The field was approaching the turn when the leader, Lady Backwood, fell, bringing down the four others.
