NO WORD. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) THE CHATEAU, 'September 2. There was still no word of Stanton at 12.25 p.m. SPORTS MEETING CANCELLED. THE CHATEAU, September 2. The remaining events in the winter sports meeting organised by Ruapehu jSki Club ihave been called oft', as it has been impossible to conduct them during the past few days and most of the. competitors have now left the Chateau. It is possible the N.Z. skiing championships this year will be decided on two events which have been run oft', the Langlauf and Slalom. This question will be decided by Ruapehu Ski Club later,’ at a meeting at its headquarters at Wanganui. / GOVERNOR-GENERALS MESSAGE. WELLINGTON, September 2. Following is a copy of a message from the Governor-General to Mr Graham Bell at Tongariro: —“Her Excellency and I are greatly relieved to learn that, with the exception of one member whom we hope may yet he rescued, you and your party have come safely through their severe ordeal on Mh. Ruapehu. We have read with admiration of the courage and plucky endurance shown by all, and especially by the ladies,, and we trust the sufferers are making satisfactory progress towards recovery. We congratulate those who, with public spirit and promptitude, formed themselves into search parties upon the success of their efforts in the face of much difficulty and danger to themselves.”
