Ewan of Sargood and Son and Ewan, and by Mr W. Sim of the D.|l.C. on wholesale and retail questions and concerning prospective importations for future months Buckle-ton’s evidence is to be taken at a later dato. ESCAPED SENTENCED. CHRISTCHURCH, September 1. For escaping from Paparua prison on August 26th, 'Wilfhim Albert Harrington, who was arrested six hours later, was sentenced to a further term of six months by Magistrate Mosley, to be served at the expiration of his present sentence, imposed for attempted rape at Dunedin. THEFT CHARGES.CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 1. Before Magistrate Mosley, Ernest Coupei" Smith, 45, a company manager, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing goods valued at- £968 the property of Maliiig and Co. Accused was committed for trial, bail being allowed in £SOO and a surety of £SOO. Police witnesse s alleged that while accused was managing a department for Mating and Co., be sent goods "o a business started by himself in Ashburton.
