Air Thomas has resigned from the National Union of Railwaymen. Mr Thomas did not attend the meeting hut sent in a letter of ji esignat.on “You have unanimously requested my a-esignation from the Government, compliance with which would! brandme as a coward and a cad and I can- ■ not and won’t resign. My allegiance .y. to the National Government is not hasty, but a sincere belief that T r.m gendering not only the best service to 'railwaymen but discharging a duty to the nation. It is unfair to ask If r my resignation from Government •when you know I acted in accordance with the dictates of my conscience therefore there ig no alternative om sever my connection with the raii*Taymen. I love the railwaymen and xtiv union too much to appeal against vour decision. Goodbve.”
