A brilliant century by Mills was the feature of the day in the Kent match. Dempster was dismissed shortly before lunch when lie skied a catch to point. Weir was run out after lunch. Failing to start quickly, , Blunt and Vivian were caught in the slips and the score was 161 for 4. A valuable partnership by Mills and Lowry added eighty for the fifth w.v.vet betore Lowry was caught when attempting to drive a ball going away. Meanwhile Mills was playing, all the bowling with ease and confidence. It was a delightful exhibition of stylish batting. His driving, hooking and cutting were superb. Be was howled when attempting to pull a straight ball. He. gave one difficult chance at 145. He batted for four hours and hit 23 fours. Page batted steadily, but the others were disappointing.
