ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
ELECTRIC SHOCK. TWO CHILDREN UNCONSCIOUS. AUCKLAND, August 25. The two children of Mr R. Walker, Tirohanga Valley, near Opotiki, had a narrow escape from death by electrocution. A little;hoy, aged three years, pulled tlie plug out on an electric kettle and then pushed his fingers up tlie hole in the plug.'He received an electric shock., A little girl caught hold of her brother and' also received a shock. The children were rescued unconscious and ' given medical attention. The boy did not revive until three hours later.
DOCTOR’S SUDDEN DEATH. NELSON, August 27. Dr. H. E. Jeffries, medical superintendent of Nelson Mental Hospital, formerly of Porirna, and Seacliff, died suddenly last evening. RUN OVER BY LORRY. DUNEDIN, August 25. Noel Taylor, aged sixteen, living with his parents in Kaikorai Valley Road, was run over by a motor-lorry near his home to-day, and was taken to \ tlie hospital with both legs fractured.
