BLAKELOW MURDER
POLICE ENQUIRIES. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, August 25. A story that, after delivering rural mail into a mail box at liakitahuna, two nt.Ls from the scene of the Blakeway tragedy, he heard a whine and the crash oi a pea-rifle bullet iuio some object nearby, was reported to the. police this morning, by E, T. Spiers, The incident occurred at 4 o’clock this morning, when -it was quite dark. ■Spiers thought at first that his tyre had pinched a stone which struck the mail box, but he realised alter that the road is bituinenised. One bis return journey he discovered a bullet hole in the mail box, and he reported it to tlu* police.
Shortly 'after, the owner of the mail box, A. Matheson, arrived at the Police Station with a bullet, but later his wife reported that she had observed the hole in the box a day or two days ago. Yd it is strange that the bullet was not discovered before. It- is possible that Spiers heard a shot and that the bullet struck another object. Jhe police are pursuing inquiries. There are no developments in the Blakewav case,
