There was a thrilling contest over the famous Ards circuit of 410 f miles. In the presence of nearly half a million spectators, including Spanish exroyalties, English peers and peei esses, and the Governor of Northern Ireland, the world’s fastest motpr-cars, blazed, flamed, skidded and crashed through hedges. A stand containing sixty spectators collapsed, many being injured. The contest ended in a triumph for the baby cars, the Englishman winning after a headlong contest with the Italian. Last year’s winner, the Ttalian ace, Nuvolari, retired with a seized piston. Sri, Henry Birkin broke nil lap records, at first with 79.79 miles an hour, 80 miles an hour and at last 89 miles an hour.
