RADIO PROGRAMME

SATURDAY, AUGUST 15th. lYA's programme this evening will he a relay of a concert to be given by the Municipal Choir in the Auckland Town Hall. 2Y A will relay from the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, a concert by the Wellington Harmonic Society, under the conductorship of Mr H. Temple White. The numbers by the choir are well chosen and varied. The soloists include Air Leon de Alauny (violinist) who will be heard'in “•Reverie” by Vieuxtemps, " Air on the G. String” by .Bach and “Loure” by Bach, and Mrs Wilfred Andrews (contralto). 4YA’s programme (which will also be broadcast by 3YA) will be a real radio vaudeville entertainment. Popular quartettes will be sung by the Four Aces arid choruses will also be sung to such solos as ‘'Jingle Bells,” “Can't Remtmber” “Massa’s in de Cold Ground,’’ ‘‘Yeoman’s Wedding” and “Ise Gwine Back to Dixie.” Also on the programme will be Mr W. B. Lambert, who specialises in Hebrew humour, Stokes Banjo Band, Mr W. J. iSinton, an artist on the xylophone, and Mr J. Dalbianico, an exponent of the piano accordeon. ;
MONDAY, AUGUST 17th. This evening, the 2YA “Alusical Portraits” seri-s will be continued by Signor Lucien Uesaroni, who js well known in Italy, Australia and New Zealand, as an exponent of the works of Mozart. He will present, with his operatic company, numerous excerpts from Mozart’s operas “II Seraglio,” "Figaro,” ‘‘The Magic Flute” and “Don Juan.” In some instances the dialogue will be provided. Mr Gordon Short and the Ui'f hestrina, under S:gnor A. P. Truda, will play selections from Mozart’s works, including one of his charming minuets. Tiie s'ew Brighton Alunicipal Band, under Mr J. A. Nuttall, has arranged a programme of much diversity for «JYA. assisting vocalists will be Mr W. Bradshaw (who won numerous prizes at the recent Christchurch Competitions) Mild Ail'S Robert Sherris (mezzo-soprano), who is making her first appearance in r :dio. Two other entertainers—Mr Les. Grummitt (at the piano) with Mr Rex. 'Sayers as vocalist, will present a popular turn. The Christchurch Broadcasting Trio will play selections and will also accompany Air Bradshaw in his solos. At 4YA, a new International Pro--ramme will be presented on Monday evening. The feature turns will include “The Vitaphone Orchestra,” “'Radio Sweethearts,” "Forget Me not” and “The Irresistible Imps.” The lecturer iwill be Air A. J. Woods, ALA. Lecturer in History at Dunedin Training College. He will speak on “Some Historic Aspects of Internationalism.” Silent day at IYA.
