A REEF STRUCK. (By Telegraph—Per Press A ssociation) ( TIIAMUS, August It. On Thursday, Maori claim holders who had been putting in levels at Kaka, claim that Tapu was successful in cutting an entirely new reef, obtaining a considerable quantity of picked stone was crushed with primitive appliances and yielded one ounce three penny weight valued at £3 17 6(1 per ounce. The Maoris will not allow anyone on the claim, but state that the stone looks more promising as the drive progresses. At the" rear of this claim a Taranaki syndicate in putting in a level discovered a reel' about fourteen feet wide. A ton of this crushed, yielded seventeen pennyweight. 'Some of the stone was exhibited in Thames and experienced miners say it is particularly good.
