RACING TAX
A SUGGESTED ALTERATION
(By Tele<jraph~~Per Press Association)
STRATFORD, August 13
Dealing with the racing tax, which he described as a heavy 'burden on Clubs, the President of Stratford Ciufi, Mr D. J. Malone, said at present the Government rebate of lfi per cent, allowed to Clubs on the first £25,000 put through, the totalisator, afforded a measure of relief, but a lot of smaller Clubs received very small benefit from it. He suggested that the Club approach the Racing Conference with a request that the Government allow rebate of 21 per cent, on the first £IO,OOO and 1/ per cent, on the next £15,000 up to £25,000. That would give a measure of relief to Clubs which at present were having a hard fight for existence. It was -decided to send a remit, as outlined, to the Conference.
