Grand National meeting opened to-day in brillia.nl> warm sun shine, with the attendance quite up to the average of Grand National days. The course was in splendid, fast order. Passing the stands double the first time, Dark Prince led from Paris, Snowfall, Pangolin, Tunamoe, and Omeo. This was the order over the sod wall where Soaboy fell,, and Snowfall was second to Dark Prince. At the Kennels double, Bon Aryan and Dark Prince led from Snowfall, .Paris, Pangolin, Lucess, Omeo, Tunamoe, Kapuna, Matu and Wiltshire, the field being well strung out. Dark Prince was still in charge passing the stands the second time, and led over the Cutts’ well clear of. Snowfall, Bon Aryan, Pangoin, Paris,' Omeo and/ Lucess. Several horses fell going down 'the back; Kapuna a.t the post and rails, Pangolin, Paris, Omeo and Lucess. Jack at the Kennels double, and Wako King at- the top brush. Snowfall took charge from Paris after Dark Prince fell after landing over the top brush, and wont on to win easily by five lengths from Paris, with Lucess eight lengths away third, and Copay ilourth. Time 6.5 S 1-5. Enfield Steeplechase.—s Taramoa 1; 3 Silver Light 2; 4 Radian 3. Won by ten lengths; three lengths. Time 3.51 1-5. WSNTF.R CUP. 2 KAHIKATOA (Gray) 1 12 Ranelagh (Carmout) ... ... - 15 Coinpris (Coveney) 3 Also started: 12 Palermo, 7 Ala bora 10 Royal Saxon, 1 Great Star, 9 Mount Boa, 13 Red Boa, 11 Rational. It, 3 Knollmere, 6 Royal Love, 18 High Pitch, 5 Sharp Thorn ,8 Rascal, 19 Stnrshooter, 17 Punchestown, 10 Topero, 14 On Top, 4 Dun raven, 21 Bhickmint and Royal Game (bracketed), 22 Sliotly. Great Star was soon in charge, followed .by Sharp Thorn, Knollmere, Rascal and Mali ora. Round ing the far turn Knollmere'ran into second place behind Great Star, but crossing the top the order was Knollmere, Rascal, Sharp 1 born, Great Star, On Top, Kahikatoa. and Rational 11. Knollmere led into the straight, but Kahikatoa drew out at the distance and won by three lengths from Ranelagli, with Coinpris a length away third, with Red Boa fourth. Time 1.41 Avonliead Handicap (first division) —2 Shatter 1; 8 Kamo 2; 13 Hounslow 3. Won by a length ; half a length away third. Time 1.27 4-5. Avonliead Handicap (second division) Locksley 3. Won by a length; three lengths'. Time 1.27. 5
