A in usage from Point Barrow states that Colonel and Airs Lindbergh hopped off there for Nome at 8.53 p.m., Pacific Standard Time. THE HANNIBAL ACCIDENT. RUGBY, August 10. The official announcement' regarding the aeroplane Hannibal, states that in landing, one wing hit a telegraph pole, and the tail was torn. Ihe Hannibal is one of three machines of this type, already in commission. The fourth is about to be delivered, and four others are on order by Imperial Airways. The Hannibal weighs 13 tons, has four engines, each of 500 horse power. It, has accommodation for thirty-four passengers, besides a crew of two pilots, a mechanic and steward. NEW MOTOR RECORD. RUGBY, August 10. New speed records for the “baby” car class were set up by Leon Cushman, who was driving a super-charged Austin seven Brooklyn car. Further, it was announced to-day, that the previous record holder, George Evston, lias decided to build new M. G. Midget cars, to attempt to recapture the records. Four new records were set up by Cushman, which included a Hying kilometre, which lie accomplished at a speed of 102.28 miles an hour, and a Hying mile at 100.67 miles an hour. AIR SERVICE. LONDON, August 11. Imperial Airways announced that they were ready to begin an aeroplane service between London and Port Darwin as soon as the Government’s concerned are able to afford the necessary subsidy. They will aim firsts at reaching Darwin in fifteen Bays and later in twelve. They will not attempt night Hying in the early stages.
