RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) FRIDAY, 'AUGUST 7th. An interesting item on . lYA’s programme this evening will he "Ihe Story of Cutty Sark,” as told by ‘‘Lee Tore Brace. ’ Air Keg. Morgan and his Orchestra will provide the major portion of li'A’s concert programme. Solo items will be contributed by saxophone and violin, while Mr Morgan will himself contribute two baritone songs. The orchestral numbers will include a selection of old English songs besides dance tunes and the latest popular hits. Solos will be sung by Miss 'Winifred E. Osborne (soprano) and Miss Phyllis James (contralto) and there will be a pianoforte number by Mr Cyril Towsey. the Lyric Quartet of male voices, and Miss Ella Fair will provide the vocal portion of 2YA’s programme. The quartettes will be specially fine and numtrous duels and solos will also be sung. The Orehestrina, under S:gnor A. P. Truda. will play the overture ‘‘Emblem,” the selection ‘‘Little .Dutch Girl,” the selection “Poppy” and a tarantelle, “Napoli.” 6 1 . A will be engaged with a boxing relay.

The (Regal Four will provide the vocal portion of the musical programme at 4YA. ,Th» quartettes will include , such favourites as "Carnptown Races,” “Old Kentucky Horn" ”, ‘The 'Moclcng Bird” and “Canadian Boat Song.” During the evening there will b' a b.i *

talk about Admiral Blake, appropriately introduced, by tne singing of the “Admiral’s Broom” by Mr Bert Rawlinson. Humorous recitations will be givtn by Miss E. M. Holland. On the instrumental side of the programme will be a trio (Messrs Pettitt, Hunter and Law) and a novelty quartet playing the latest popular melodies.

SATURDAY, AUGUST Bth. Two stirring martial poems will be heard from 11'A this evening—“lhe Charge of the. Light Brigade” and “The rieitt of v\ atecloo ”—both to be netted by Mr J. M. Clark. Included also on ihe programme wil. be Mrs Laetitia Parry, the well known soprano, Mr A. Everell Orr, Baritone, Mr Charles Boys ((playing popular and old time melodies on his concertina) and the Orchestral Octet. The orchestral numbers will iniJude "’ihe Show Boat," the overture to "An Irish Oonndy.” “Two Hindoo i 5 ketches,” "More Dale Dances,” a spiritual “From the Corn Fields” and (Miles’s “Butterfly. Dance.” 2YA will relay from the Wellington Town Hall a concert to. be given by the Wellington -ymphony Orchestra. Music umrs as assured, of an excellent programme. The overture to “Merry Wives of Windsor,” “Symphony in D Minor” ((by Cesar, Franck), Concerto for Organ and Orchestra in B. Flat” (the soloist being Mr Bernard F. Page), “Waltz’ from “Rosenkavalier” and “Caprice ltalien” will be played. The vocal soloist wTI be Mr Rex Harrison (baritone) who will sing “The Toreador Song” (from

“Carmen”) with orchstral accompaniment.

The newly formed iSalon Orchestra, under Mr Francis Bate, will make its first appearance at 3YA this evening, presenting a popular programme and accompanying the vocalists. Miss Nellie Lowe will sing: Must a 'Ray of Sunshine,” "The -Hills of 'Donegal,” “Caller Herrin’ ” and “Danny Boy”—all old favourites. Mr Douglas Suckling's tenor solos will include “Duna,” “For Aou Alone” and “At Dawning.” The Mascots vyill present a sketch, "A Lot for your Money,” another of the entertaining series of adventure of *)o and Vi. Miss Elaine Moody's Hawaiian Quartet with steel guitars and ukulele will also contribute to the programme, which will be relayed to 4YA.
