EXEMPTION REFUSED (By Telegraph—Per Press. A ssociation ) .... ■ AUCKLAND, August 7. Three Auckland applications for exemption from the ten per cent, wages cut were rejected by the Arbitration Court in a judgment tc-day. In the case of Devonport Ferry Coy. workers and engineers -(two applications), the Court said the Company did not 'ncrease its fares during the period of increasing wages, and its profit in the last.twelve month? had been considerably reduced: : ' In the case of milk roundsmen Hie Court said the grounds of application related exclusively to the general conditions of employment, which were all considered .when the award was made. The Court also rejected an- application by Christchurch branch of- the Amalgamated Carpenters and Joiners for exclusion from the- general order, insofar as it affects workers engaged under existing contracts.
