The start of the cricket match New Zealand v.. Warwickshire was delayed for forty minutes owing to thick fog. The outfield was again wet and the .howlers were handicapped with a greeny hall. Pa.rson s continued to hat steadily. BIRMINGHAM, August 6. Warwickshire put up a' fine lirst innings score of 401 in the match against New Zealand and the latter were 143 for 8 at stumps. Merritt dismissed Smart in his second bowling spell in the morning. The batsman was caught by Vivian at long off. After lunch Vivian quickly disposed of the tail. Parsons fought hard to reach his two hundred,'but was run out in attempting a risky second run, in order:to keep the bowling. Despite chances, his was a fine innings, dominated by forceful driving. It lasted 820 minutes, and he hit 13 foiii's.

Information has been received by the New Zealand Cricket Council from Mr. Donnelly, chairman of the Manage ment Committee, now in England, that New Zealand’s share of the gate receipts at the second test match amounted to £1,229, thus bring the receipts for tile tour to the end of that match up to £5,861. Mr Donnelly adds that . the New Zealand team’s performance in the second test match was splendid, being equal, in the opinion of good judges, to that at Lords. ‘‘Tli ,luck ' was right against us,” he concluded.
