ACCOMMODATION HOUSE BURNT. SERIOUS DAMAGE. i By Telegraph—Per Press Association) BLENHEIM, August 6. The Rai Valley accommodation house on the road to Nelson, owned by J. Mosley, of sixteen rooms, was totally destroyed by fire this morning at half past two. It was built six years ago. The eleven'” inmates only had time to escape in their night attire. Splendid work of the residents saved the adjoining store and bakehouse owned by Mr Hart. The very heavy frost during the nighfj !, )ttadg it difficult at first to obtain water, which hampered efforts. 'File telephone wires were burnt through. Insurances arc unavailable but Hart and Mosley are heavy losers.
MOTOR GARAGE BURNT. FIFTEEN CARS DESTROYED. WAIROA, August 6. A fire gutted the whole front portion of tho Wniroa- Motor Garage Company’s premises at midnight. Fifteen cars were burnt and st eks damaged by smoke and water. The Brigade effected a smart save. The fire was extinguished within five minutes of tin alarm. The building and contents are insured in the Norwich Union.
