NO PAY TO-DAY. (Australian Press Association.) (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 6. The -Legislative Council to-night by 28 to 16 decided to insist upon its amendment to the Public Service Salaries reduction Bill and is now formulating its reasons. Although the public service salaries are not paying to-morrow, the police will be paid. Ministers and Parliamentarians are not affected by the empty treasury, as they received their monthly cheques on August Ist. LOAN COUNCIL. REFUSES TO HELP. MELBOURNE. August 6. The Loan Council met to-day. It was learned the Treasurers” arc unanimously opposed to recommending any Further money for New- South Walts at the present juncture. The matter will probably be finalised to-morrow. The delegates furnished reports regarding the measures 'taken bv the various States to give effect to the rehabilitation plan.
