Although the banking restrictions ar e not being removed till to-morrow, many of the banks in Germany resumed operations to-day. ‘ The amounts paid in to-day to the banks exceed the withdrawals. The Chancellor of Germany. Dr. Bruening, Avlien broadcasting an address to-night, indicated that the banks Avere to be brought under the control- of the Government, and lie also declared that these emergency measures had nothing to do Avith inflation. The depositors, he added, need not he afraid that they would lose their hard-earned savings.
