WEDNESDAY,' AUGUST sth. The annual concert of the Auckland Boys’ Grammar School, to be given in the Town Hall, w.ll be broadcast by IVA this evening. Dr Guy H. Scholefkhl, 0.8. E., will be the lecturer during the International Programme at 21'A. Mvndelfisphu’s oratorio •'Elijah,” to be presented in the Civic theatre by the Royal Christchurch Musical Society this evening, will be relayed by 3YA. The soloists will be Madame Winner Fraser, soprano, of Oainaru ; Miss C. Freeman Brown, contralto ; Mr Chas. R. Williamson, tenor • and AH' Charles Clarkson, bass, of Ashburton. The oratorio wdl be presented with full grand chorus and orchestra under the t-omlue-torship of Mr W. 11. Dixon, I.R.A.M. A.R.C.M.
4YA’s Studio concert will be provided bv Anderson’s Bay Orchestra, conducted by Mr James Clark, 4YA vocal artists also contributing. The orchestra will present a varied and excellent piogramme. The ‘-Rhapsodic Hongroise”’ will be played as a flute and piano item by Mr T. Kenderdine and Mrs C. Drake. Mr R. Watson will present the violin solo “Nocturne” (by Field). Contralto solos will be contributed By Mrs B. C. Roberts, tenor solos by Mr R. A. Mitchell and bass solos by Mr F. E. Woods. There will be elocutionary items by Mr J. B. Flynn. \ THURSDAY, AUGUST 6th. From the Lewis E'ady Hall, a concert by the Aeolian Orchestra, under mv Gerald T. Lee, will be broadcast on relay by IYA this evening. Featured on 2YA's programme will be Mr Rex. Harrison, baritone. He will sing four very popular songs : “I am a Friar of Orders Grey," “The Vulcan s Song,” "The Crescent Moon” and "The Lute Player.” Miss Muriel Johns wdl sing songs at the piano. Mr V. Evans will give two humorous items. Also included on the programme will be Mr )Terence O'Brien, Irish tenor, and a violin solo "Romance” (by Wieniawski) will be played by Mr W. Hay dock. Th; Giehestrma, under Signor A. P. inula, will be heard in "Sylvia Ballet .mis "Miniature Mute,” "Serenade Roc-coco, the selection "Gipsy Princess and the latest dance novelties.
The weekly International Talk from 7,YA will be given by Mr Go. Lawn, M.A. of Canterbury College. He will speak on •’Manchuria.” Silent day at 4YA.
