Many West Coast friends wili regret to learn of the death of ex-Senior Sergeant Egan, who was for many years one df the best-known officers of the police force in (frevmouUi, until his retirement some years ago, when he took up his residence at Timaru His death at an advanced age took place at Timaru yesterday. The deceased was a most efficient officer, with a fund of dry wit, and was a popular figure. He leaves a family of three sons and four daughterrs. One son is the Rev. Father Egan S.M., of the Marist Order’s professorial staff, while another son is an officer of the P. and T. Department. Mrs Michael O’Meeghan, of Timaru, is a daughter, and another is Mrs Blair, "hose husband is an officer of the Railway Department, and was formerly stationed at Kumara, while there are two daughters at liopie.
