A serious warning of the nation’s position was uttered by the Crintact preaeliiug at Dover. “We have always taken it. for granted that our industrial and commercial supremacy is assured,” lm said. “Now that we know it is threatened, wo must take an entirely new outlook, unless \ve are prepared for a sacrifice on a large and wide scale. It may he difficult, uot on'y to maintain the existing standard, hut even to provide a living and maintenance for the people.”
