RUNANCA STORE. ... DESTROYED ON SATURDAY. The grocery store at the intersection of AU-Gow; n and Duncan Streets, linnanga, which lias, for some time past, been conducted by Mr Alec Farqualinr, and was formerly carried on InMr (,'roagb. and later by Mr S . Bnddeloy, was on Saturday night destroyed by fire. Air Farqimliar bad been absent from the shop during the afternoon and evening, Inning been on a. journey to the Twelve Mile, from which lie returned tn his home at G3O p.m. About 10.15 p.m., the building was discovered to he on fire hut on ac -omit of the lack of any fire-fighting facilities, the residents were unable to ' Imck the flames. The store was demolished, the chimneys being levelled. The stock and fittings were valued at, £BSO and were insured in the Royal (Joy., for £7OO, while the building, valued at £'•)()() was insured in the same office for £3OO. The Se'l Help Stores Proprietary bad just arranged to take over this store from Mr Farqiihnr, and there was to have yesterday been a stock-taking, while to-morrow a Self Help Store was to lmvo been inaugurated there. The origin of the fire is a mystery.

AHAURA BAKERY DESTROYED. The Ahnura Store, an old landmark in the Grey Valley, owned by Air I. Hahn, and occupied by Air J. IV. Bixter, baker, was totally destroyed hv fire about 9 o’clock hist evening. Ihe building was one oi four rooms, housing a. bakery and a small shop. The origin of the fire is not known. Hie insurance on the building and the contents (if any), are not available.

MOTORS DESTROYED. On Tuesday night last, at Ahnur.i. fire completely destroyed a ga age, a motor car owned by Mr .7. Becker and a motor lorry owned by Mr X. Moea‘t. The origin of the fire is not known.
