COMMITTEE MEETINC. The Committee met at. the- Club room at 8.35 last evening. Present: Alessrs W. E. AVilliams (Chairman), F. AlcGregor, H. Newman, A. Yarral], J. Peake, H. Butland, D. J. Evans, Af. Houston, R. AVhiley and Dr. Teichelniann. Air D. Stevenson, builder and Air O. Fowler, caretaker, were .also present. I The minutes of the . previous meeting were confirmed. . - A letter was read from Air T. E. Y. Seddon, Wellington, acknowledging on behalf of the.family, the message of sympathy sent in connection with the death of his mother. 1 A letter was read from the Insurance of Australia Ltd. with regard to cover for the proposed building, confirming verbal arrangements on ! the matter, asking for copy of the plan of the proposed building. Received as satisfactory, copy of plan to be supplied. A plan of the proposed building was submitted by Air D. Stevenson builder. This showed; & stand of 90 feet in length or 12 feet less than the building destroyed. The proposed building, however, is of different design and will accommodate..- a large number of people. The building is to be of concrete largely, the floor and walls being of that material. Woodwork will be only in the upper floor of the stand, The partitions in the official .quarters will ',be of (non-in-flammable material. There will be a break of 12 feet between the refreshment room (which is to be reconditioned) and the stand, with concrete walls separating the two structures. The former inside stairway to reach the stand is dispensed with, and the approach will now be direct from the lawn by concrete steps. Below will be two publicans bars and the official quarters. The former may be entered from both the front and the rear. The official quarters wall be entered from the bird-cage, at the side, and a speciaT stairway will provide access from the bird-cage to the stand. The estimated ' cost of the structure is £1,400. , , The Secretary submitted a statement showing estimated funds avialable (in. eluding bank accommodation) of £1,285, and further contributions might be expected. The financial aspect was discussed for some time. A proposal was made to reduce the expenditure for the time beiug by erecting only portion of the stand, hut this was mot considered practicable. The general opinion was that the proposal provided adequate accommodation and should serve patrons.. wejUL,... „ r _ Ultimately, Air Butland moved that the work he taken in' hand, cost not to exceed £I4OO, suhject to the necessary financial arrangements being made. The Chairman seconded the •motion and this, after further discussion as to details of finance) was carried unanimously. The meeting concluded at 9.40.
