RADIO PROGRAMME

The whole of lYA’s programme this evening is to be givui by the Auckland Orpheus Club, which has already broadcast, on several occasions. The orchestra is playing ‘‘Hungarian Lust-spiel,” “Cop pel a" Ballet. Music. "Americana Suite" and ‘■Ballet Egyptian." The vocalists will be Miss Bewa llipwell (soprano) and Mrs ,L. K. Lambert, who will be heard jn a number of solos and ducts. Mr Harry Woolley will play piano solos, and Mr J. Finlayson will supply humour. A concert by the Wellington Com mercial Travellers’ and 'Warehousemen's Association Orchestra and Concert Party will lie broadcast by 2YA. A most interesting instrumental programme has bis ii arranged. Also included on the programme will be a duet for Mute and clarinet, “Lo, Here the Oeiitle Lark,’ and pianoforte duets. The vocalists for the evening will be Mr U. Naylor (tenor) and Mrs Kiloen Miller (soprano) who will be heard in popular ballads. The first instalment of the series ol International Programmes will be broadcast bv 3YA. Dr P. Stanley Foster, chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Itotary Club, will speak on "Personal Observations in other Countries.” Silent day at 4YA. FRIDAY, JULY 31st. On the studio'•■programme from IYA th s evening, a new artist will appear, Mr George Passek", who will give a number of aecordeon solos. Mrs Pearl Owen will contribute mezzo-contralto solos and Mr Laurie Stuart baritone songs. Mr Trevor Binns will be heard in several humorous numbers. The Orchestral Octet will play, amongst other numbers, "The Punch Bowl,’ "Romance, "A Creole Serenade,” and a selection of "Sullivan Songs." A varied and interesting evening is assured from 2YA. Newcomers to radio will be heard: The Nelson Brotho”: unandol n duo), Mr A. Wills (baritone) add Brigadier James Jmrio (Eiigl:s'‘ oiicertina). Mr >A. Also on t'l" programme' will be Madame Dorot' Cronin, soprano, late of Auckland. The Orchestrina, undor Signor A. P. Iruda, ill Iv heard in the overture "Masanulio," the selection "Katja, the Dancer nd the selection "Songs of Italy.’ Mrs Anita Lcdsham will contribute four popular songs to 3V A’s progrtimnie this evening: "Buy my Strawberries," Irish Folk Song,” ‘•Come Lads and I.asses” and “The Bonnie Banks of Loch 1.0m.md." The other vocalists for th" evening will be Mr Bussell Siimnei (tenor) and Mr Arch Macrpiarrie. (baritone), while Mr L. T. J. Ryan will titlertain for fifteen minutes with “’Tricks iml Teasers," a. radio conjuring turn, j Saxophone and piano novelty items will '■ played by Mr. Lyndon P. Christie .ml Miss Clive Amnston. The instmuental portion of the concert will be provided bv the 'Studio Octet. Some very fine quartettes will be sunt; by the- Select Four at 43 A. As solo numbers, Miss L. tie (Ttiord will sjug "Love’s a Merchant" and "Tn the Car den of your Heart.” ConTalto solos by Alisa M. Howden will be "John Ander-I son, My Joa" and "Love's Carden of Hoses.” Mr ,J. F. Davies will contribute, tenor songs. The bass, Mr Edward | Bond, will' sing “Father, O’Flynn” and l •T!reridon Fair.” A ’cillo solo will be! added to the programme by Mess V. Mofl'att, violin solos by Miss B. Garland and piano solos by Mrs Drake. I liese three artists will also be beard in trio numbers.
