APPROVED BY CAUCUS. MR LANG’S SALARIES BILL. (Australian Press Association) (Received this day at 9.20 a.m) SYDNEY, July 30. The State Labour Caucus approved of the Salaries Reduction Rail submitted by Mr Lang, a.s part of the economy campaign. The measure, which is being introduced in the Assembly today, provides that the salaries of Judges, Ministers, Members of Parliament with Government officials be reduced to £SOO per annum. Civil servants receiving between £5 and £lO sterling per week are being reduced twenty per cent, but there is no reduction of wages of less than £5 sterling. An unemployment tax of one shilling in the pound will also be imposed on those receiving more than £5 sterling. Judges’ salaries range from £2600 to £3500 sterling. , Mr Lang estimates the Bill will save a million and a-half sterling. FEDERAL OPPOSITION. TO' LIMIT APPROPRIATION. CANBERRA, July 29. The Federal Opposition have decided to prevent the Federal Government from obtaining an appropriation for a full year, as will be attempted by the Prime Minister, before - the Common wealth Parliament goes into recess this week; Mr Lyons (Leader of the Opposition) has. communicated this decision to Mr Scull in. Mr Lyons informed the Prime Minister that the Opposition intended to limit the authority for expenditure to the first three months of the current financial year. He said the Opposition feels equally responsible with the Government for the success of the Rehabilitation Plan, and that it should be in a position to deal with whatever developments there may arise in the next few months.
