BOXING

’ BOXERS RETURN. «'» • WELLINGTON, July 27. A. J. Cleverley and Ted Morgan, two "Wellington boxers, returned to-day by the Makura from San Francisco after an edght months’ visit to the United States. Cleverley' said he experienced great difficulty in getting matches, which are not controlled by an association but by managers. Arrangements were made with, the managers and if they thought the contestant too good Jor their “boy,” there would be no match. With the exception of the “top-notchers,” he considered that there were no boxers who had anything on New Zealand men. He was rather disappointed in not being able to get more contests.
