I he letter stated that the team plays only one' game every three'-weeks, and is idesirous. of. playing the cup game while they are in good form. It- was to leave the matter of the fixation of a date for the Graham Wise Cup game over until a later date. Mr Williams stated that w player named Hibbs, who plays senior grade in the Lake Brunner Sub-Division’s competition, was desirous of playing for Star juniors, and the Star Club wanted to know if they were entitled to play him. The Chairman stated that according to the rules a player residing in, the Lake Brunner district was permitted to play in the Union’s, competitions, j There could thus be no objection to bis playing for the Star Club. —It was resolved that Hibbs be permitted, to play for Star juniors. i i One; application for reac'rriission to the code was ordered to be forwarded to the N-ZC; Union,, with a favourable recommendation. ■ The Westland Sub-Union wrote requesting permission to hold their annual seven-a-side tournament on Saturday next, August Ist. The N.Z. Rugby Union asked re the United Club’s appeal: (1) Whether the players, Dunmnodie and Garrett, resigned their membership with the Brunner Club; (2) did they join the 1 United Club, as stated by the secre- ! tary; (3) did the West Coast Rugby Union rule that no player becomes a club member until, ho lias taken part in a competition fixture. If so, what were the circumstances? j The Chairman said it had not been stated at a. Union" meeting that the two players had resigned, but the fact that they joined up with the United ' Club was 'sufficient to warrant-the as- , sumption that they did not intend to play any more games for Brunner. Tile reason why Garrett and Dunwoodio joined United was because they understood that the Brunner Club had dis, banded. j It was decided on the motion of Mr | Ryan that the first and second queries | he answered in the affirmative and re- , the third question that the Union he | informed that the ruling was given in i reply to a. question from a delegate as ! to what constituted a member of a i Club. j The first Newman Shield match of • the season will be played on Saturday J next at the .Technical School ground I between teams representing the Grey Technical School and the Hokitika j District High School.
