Ulrich had just started the machine when one man seized a revolver from the constable's holster and shot Uh’ich in the breast. The bullet was embedded in his back and the bicycle afid. side-car colliding with the, kerb; the robbers escaped, .held up a. passing motorist and compelled him to drive them to Surrey .Hills,..where they stopped the car and disappeared. Ulrich is in a serious condition.
