Deports from the country state that following the fall of snow on ATonday of last week the cattle appeared to suffer considerably more than the sheep. The snow covered ground prevented the cows from obtaining much feed and as a following result there was much commotion among the herds who during the two days the snow lay on the ground were practically without food in many cases. Alany farmers had to cart out hay to their herds'and the bellowing of the cattle on the approach of the dray was a signal of great- welcome and there was a general rush to participate in the rations provided. The sheep, however, appeared to he able to forage better amongst the snow and to reach sufficient herbage to satisfy their wants. The few lambs that have appeared so far do not have as bright and lively an appearance as they would) have had if the weather had been of a more favourable nature.
