SATURDAY, JULY 25th. This evening, IYA will relay from the Auckland down Hall the concert to be given by the Municipal Halid, under the conductorship of Mr (icorge Buckley. The 2YA studio programme will be of the vaudeville type. A feature will be a novelty insirmnental and vocal trm, Messrs Lad Haywood, Charles Lees and Jeff Julies, playing the mandola, banjo and Spanish guitar, llnv will be heard in snappy and up-to-date melodies. Mr YV. El. Crowes (baritone) will sing "A Smuggler's Song," “To-morrow, - ’ "Y\ hen the House is Asleep” and “Thou Art Risen, My Beloved." Mr F. YY T . Barker will be heard in two humorous items. Also included on this programme will be Mrs K. Crawford (contralto) singing lour ballads. The Salon Orchestra, under Mr Al. T. Dixon, will supply the incidental music. Air Harold I’rescoit (tenor) and Mrs F. Nelson Kerr (contralto) will he the singers on the 3Y A programme, a relay to AY A also taking place. Mr Prescott’s numbers will be “1 Know a Lovely Darden." "Bf cause’’ and "Waiata Poi. Mrs IK err will sing "Mv Dear Soul,’’ “Coming 'Home" and '-Sing me to Sleep." MONDAY. JULY 27th
2YA’s programme this evening will feature another “Musical Portrait, this time of the composer Brahms. It has been specially- chosen in order to show that Brahms can be as melodious, as , asily understood and as much enjoyed as the less severe composers. Mrs Wilfrid Andrews (contralto) will sing some of his sweetest songs. A selection of Brahms’ waltzes, which he wrote to disprove an accusation that he could not write as tunefully as Schubert, will be played as diets by Miss Nora Cray and Mr Cordon Short. Mr Short will also play some of Brahms more characteristic works. Airs Amy Woodward and Mrs Wilfrid Andrews will sing, twofluets and solos. Songs by Mr Arthur Clark (tenor) .will include Kimsky-Kor-sakoil’s "Hindu Song.” 'I he Christchurch Mmreipal Band ((''inductor Mr .J. Noble) will give a well arranged programme from 3Y A. Ihe assisting artists include Miss Julie W erey soprano, (late of Wanganui), Mrs <R. F.. A'oller (contralto), Mr J. Gallagher ,(tenor), Mr 'Sydney Armstrong (baritone! and Mr H. Instone (humorist). Mr J. Crosslev Clitheroe, Lecturer on Music at the Dunedin Training College, V ill be the lecturer during the International Programme at 4YA this evening. His subject will be "The International Kinship of Music.’ Silent, day at IN A.
