LAND BALLOTS

(Dy Telegraph— Per Tress Association) NAPIER, July 24. One of the largest land sales yet held by the Land Department was completed. at Napier, when some 2165 acres of the Pukekura block, near Te Aute, was leased by ballot. The total number of applicants was 387, of which 237 went to the ballot.

Betwen 300 and 400 persons attended the ballot. The successful applicants were:—Section 2, area 110 acres, Riverlea, Taranaki; Section 3, 107 acres £ISOO, W. T. Hicks, Otane; Section 4, 520 acres, £3650, D. Campbell, Te Aute; Section 5, 84 acres, £ISOO, E. M. Willis, Waipukurau; Section 6, 521 acres, £3IOO. Mrs A. O. Heffer, Dannevirke : Section 7, 96 acres. £2050 R. E. Beveridse, Pukekohe : Setcion 8, 100 acres, £2550, Mrs C. Brownrigg, Palmerston North ; Section 9. 140 acres £ISOO. R. Phillips. Pukehou: Section 10. 472 acres, £3BOO, lan C. McPhail, Otane.
