MILLIONAIRE’S LUCK
START WITH ONE SHILLING
“I would talk if there was anything to say, but there isn’t, really.” Mr Sol. Green, who landed in Australia 46 years ago with only a shilling in his pocket, and is now a millionaire, had only this to say lately in London about his achievement. He had returned to England to see the Derby, for he is an enthusiastic racehorse owner. Landing in Australia without friends Mr Green quickly amassed a fortune on the land. To-day he' owns large sheep stations in several States. One of them, in Queensland, exceeds 13,000 square miles, an area larger than the whole of Belgium. “I am going to the Derby because it is a race worth seeing,” said Mr Green. “[ have '.ot a horse entered, and I do not think I shall ever bring onie over for that purpose.” His Strephou IT. champion horse of Australia. was brought over to run tor the Tscot Gold Cup last year, but went amiss and' could not be trained.
