THOUGHTS OF THE TIMES.
NEW ZEALAND TRAVEL) ASSOCIATION.
An association has been formed in New Zealand, whose avowed object it is to promote the tourist industry in the Dominion. The secretary of the newly-formed association, Mr G. iVL. Fowlds,. Auckland, has been visiting the South Island to make contact with various interested groups, to enrol members and to obtain a knowledge of the operations and the facilities connected with the tourist traffic. Mr Fowlds feels that the Dominion is at last becoming “tourist conscious’’ and alive to the wonderful asset it has in scenery and sport. The exploitation of these resources should prove of great profit to the Government, and individuals in the country. A steady, increasingly income derived from these sources should go far to offset any temporary depression. For a country so highly endowed with attractions as New ZealandTs, there can be no more profitable activity to foster than the tourist business. It has to be remembered that so much of what travellers come to see and enjoy in scenery and sport has been provided by Nature, aud, as it cannot be taken away, is available for resale to increasing numbers of visitors year by year. The New Zealand Travel Association hopes to have the goodwill of all citizens, and particularly looks for the active support of those in any way connected with the tourist industry.
