The death occurred yesterday of a well-known identity of the Grey 7 district in the person of Captain Gilbert Anderson, late of Ivilgour Road, Greymouth. The deceased, who had reached his eighty-fifth year, was a native, of the Shetland Islands, and landed fifty years ago at Dunedin. For some time he was engaged at sea and then for some years Captain Anderson was engaged as an hotelkeeper at Brunner and Dobson, and then took over the Suburban Hotel at Greymouth, which he conducted for 12 years until 1906, when he retired. He had latterly 7 been in failing health, and was a patient at the West! and Hospital where In's death occurred yesterday. The deceased leaves a wife and two sons Gilbert (Auckland), and George (Greymouth) .
