WEDNESDAY. JULY 22nd
The Savoy Male Quartet, consisting of Messrs Frank Campbell, Bert Skeels, Arthur Gaily and S. ilislop, will contribute vocal items to lYA’s programme this evtn'ing. Mr VV T . H. Pearce will be heard in comic songs and the Orchestral Octet will provide the instrumental port-611 of the programme. Or Guy H. Scholefleld will be the speaker for the International Night at 4j i’A.
A- trio of popular entertainers, in patter songs With violin and piano, will appear at 3YA. The artists of the combination will be: Mr Charles Lawrence, Mr Alec Munro, and Mr >Len Blogg. Miss ■Helen Mackay (soprano), Mrs C. J. Stow '(contralto) and Mr Leslie N. Fleming (baritone) will also' be contributing to the evening’s miscellaneous programme, along with Miss Irene Morris (violiniste) and the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. 4YA’s concert programme will be provided by the choir and orchestra of the Otago Girls’ High School, in association with 4YA artists. The choir and orchestra have been well trained by Mr Boy .'packman and a musical treat can be looked for by listeners. A well varied programme of it first class standard will also be presentcd’ by the orchestra. 4YA artists on the programme will be Mr J. B. Hamilton (tenor) and Mr A. Lungley- (baritone) singing familiar and popular solos.
THURSDAY, JULY 23rd
lYA's programme this evening will consist of a relay 01 the Bohemian Orchestra’s Concert at the Auckland Town Hall. This is the second concert of the season. The orchestra is under the conductorship of Mr Colin Muston, L.R.A. M. and is considered by many critics to be the finest combination of its kind in Few Zealand. It consists of 80 well trained players. Hie soloists will be 'Miss Bunty Stuart and Mr John. Bree. A studio concert will be given by the. Wellington Municipal Tramways Band, under mv E. Franjdin, and 2YA artists. The programme by the band has been ’ well chosen and includes a cornet solo by Bandmaster Stevenson, ‘‘Arbucklenian Polka.’’ Mr H. F. Gardiner (baritone) a newcomer to 2YA, will be heard in three songs, .“The Merry 'Monk,” 4 “The Garden of your Heart” and “ThV One 'of'Mll the ■ World.” "The 'Waiata Jaidies Quartet will once again delight listeners in quartettes, duets and solos 3YA’s programme will be of an opera-tic-classical nature, to be followed by a session of dance music. Soprano solos with orchestral accompaniment will be sung by Miss Frances Hamerton, and 'Mrs Josephine Brosnaham will contribute mezzo-soprano songs. Mr T. D. Williams '(bass-baritone) will sing “The Pagan,” “How Many a Lonely Caravan’ and the famous “Largo al Factotum,” all to orchestral accompaniment. Professor R. C. Zimmermann, violin virtuoso, will give a recital. An orchestral nmgramme will be provided by the Studio Octet. Silent day at 4YA.
