A MINER KILLED
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WAIUTA, July 21. t A tragedy occurred at the Blackwater Mines at about midday yesterday, resulting in tlio death of Mr James Perryman, a. well-known, and highly respected resident of the township. ; ’ The deceased was engaged in stopping' on. No. 9 level, with his mate. Mr P. ; •Williams. The accident was due to a premature explosion, as deceased and lids mate were engaged in firing operations, prior to having crib. Mr Williams is suffering from shock and abrasions. The late Sir Perryman was a native of Cornwall, and came to Waiuta some ten years ago, being one of the batch of Cornish miners that came out under, contract to the Black water Mines Ltd. Deceased was a native of Redsmith, Cornwall, and about 34 years of age. He - leaves a mother and other relatives in Cornwall, and a brother, Mr Bert Perryman, Hokitika, to whom the sympathy of liis many friends is extended.
