"ISLAND OF NO DIVORCES.”
Trinidad, the “Island of no divorces,” is likely soon to lose its reputation. Against the protests of Anglicans, Roman ' Catholics, Hindus and Moslems, the Legislatuie has decided to introduce divorce legislation immediately. It is expected that the grounds for divorce will be restricted to adultery. - Analysis of the voting shows that the bill was passed by the votes of the British official members of the -Legislature. The Colonial Secretary, however, the spokesman for the Government,! followed the precedent sent by his predecessor and voted against the measure.
