FIRE AT KAIKOURA
WOODEN BUILDINC DESTROYED. KAIKOURA, July 13. The wooden building formerly used as the cheese making department at the Kaikoura Dairy Comany’s premises, was detroyed by fire early this morning.
Mr Ross, the factory manager, was awgkened by his daughter at 1.39 a,m. The fire appeared then to have a good hold in the roof of the building. A large lorry used for orenm carrying was on fire, but Mr Ross managed to drag Ills own car to safety before it wad damaged. The butter making building adjoining, which Is constructed in concrete, escaped the fire. The manager’s residence near by was badly scorched. The building destroyed was the largest wooden building in the district. It was fully insured.
