BUSES DAMAGED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 13. Three large buses belonging to the Kelbum ami lvarori Bus Company, were extensively damaged in the firm’s garage by a lire at two o’clock this mornng. The fire spread from a small service station alongside. Considerable damage was also done to the firm’s plant. The service is being carried on by two of the buses, which were parked elsewhere, and by borrowed buses. j INTOXICATED DRIVER.

Alexander George Afelles, a dentist, "'as fined £25 and his driver’s license suspended for (i months for being jn charge of a motor car while in a state
of intoxication. The case was the sequel to a collision between two cars on the main road near Dannevirke on the evening of Sunday, June 14th., when defendant was returning from the golf links. Security of appeal was fixed at £SO.

SUSPICTOUS INCENDIARISM
HAWE.UA, July 14
Suspicions of attempted incendiarism are reported from Optmnke where about 5 a.m. on Monday a man was awakened by a smell of burning and found a motor tyre packed with paper burning beneath a. grocer’s shop next door. Prompt action with a bucket extinguished the burning material and the timelv discovery averted a disastrous fire, which is thought would have destroyed' completely a block of wooden buildings in the centre of tbe town if given a. start.
WOMENS’ OFFER
WELLINGTON, July 14
On behalf of the women of New Zealand, the Parliamentary watch committee of National Council of AVomen, have offeree] members of the Government the fullest possible assistance in an endeavour to solve the problem of unemployed women.
A deputation is meeting Messrs Forbes, (Smith and Stallworthy. The deputation also suggested that a woman should be appointed to the Unemployment Board. Mr Forbes thanked the deputation for their offer - and said the Government realised that the assistance of women's organisation would be. necessary, non that women were included under the unemployment legislation. Up to the present no definite policy had been formulated, but he was satisfied they could arrive at some definite plan.
