ARTHUR’S PASS INQUEST
CORONER’S COMMENDATION. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, July 14. That death was due to exnaustion and exposure, was the verdict returned at the inquest on Richard William Oliver, who died in the snow in Arthur’s Pass region early on Sunday morning. The inquest was held before Mr M. Fitzgerald, J.P. of Otira, Acting Coroner, I, W. Tucker, the dead man’s comrade, was highly commended by the. Coroner. A witness who brought in the body also paid a tribute to the fine effort of Tucker in carrying Oliver for half a mile until he was exhausted. Tucker did good work, declared Coroner Fitzgerqi 1 d and nearly lost his, own life, in trying to save his comrade,
