, LONDON, July 11The New Zealand cricketers enjoyed 'a batting triumph to-day against Lancashire. The game was played at Liverpool. •

The weather was line and the wicket was a perfect one. The attendance was ei<ht thousand. The New Zealanders omitted from their team Allcott, Kerr and Matheson.

The Lancashire team is as follows: — Eekersley, Hallows, Horrocks, E. Tyldesley, Iddon, Hopwood, Paynter, Taylor Sibbles, Duckworth, and Hodgson. Lowry won the toss, and batted. The New Zealand innings started badly Dempster being caught in the slips by Sibbles, as a result of a half hearted shot after scoring four. Mills also was then caught by Paynter, when hooking a short ball after bearing .16. ■ Thus there were two .wickets: down for 21 runs. . !

Blunt anddVivian, were* now iassoci ated, and they retrieved matters. The former batted steadily, playing well on the offside, until lie had scored 33, when he,.snicked a ball from Sibbles to Duckworth.

A fine partnership then followed be tween Weir and Page, who added 109 runs for the sixth wicket. Neither now took any unnecessary-risks,'-and they faced all the bowlers with confidence. Page when.,43, was; dismissed when attempting to force the pace, after tea by Eekersley, .. with a high left hand catch.

Partnered by Lowiry, Weir continued to bat confidently, reaching the century in 186 minutes. His offside shots were flawlessly executed, and lie also scored wll through the covers'. He hit nine fours. He was caught behind the wicket off Hodgson. Cromb, without scoring was dismiss ed in the same manner as Weir.

Lowry and James then proceeded to take toll of the tired bowling. Lowry was particularly aggressive, making forcing shots through the covers, with an occasional lusty ondrive. He attempted to 'score sixteen in the final over to gain the century, but got bowl ed by Hodgson. He made 92, after he had hit two fours. He was bowled off his pad. He gave several chances which, however, failed to mar .a magnificent display. He batted for ninety minutes and hit fourteen fours. James'hlsti bdtted vigorously, but he allowed Lowry most of .the bowling. Hocigson and Sibbles are medium right handed bowlers. Hopwood arid Iddon are slow left handed bowlers.
