BEALEY TRAGEDY
A TRAMPER’S DEATH. I tfy Telegraph, Per Press Association.) f OHR.TSTCHtJRCFt, July 12. While tramping through ht..vy snow from the Ben ley Hotel to the Carrington Memorial Hut, Mr Richard W. Olliver collapsed,and died. Mr Olliver, who was a married man, aged 24 years, was the Secretary to R. Arlow and Co. In company with Me C. Tucker, an employee of the same firm, Mr Olliver left Christchurch on Saturday afternoon for the Bealey Hut, which is. 60 miles from .Christchurch, . on the Main West Coast Road. In the evening they left f.of tlie Carrington Hut, situated under the mountains at the head waters of the Bealey River, but he died when he had got about four miles from the hotel. The scene of the tragedy is about, two miles from the Bealey Hotel. Deceased’s comrade, Mr R. W. Tucker, • is to be commended for his fine action in carrying the body, through such a heavy fall of snow for so great a distance to the Bealey Hotel. 1
